This page provides detailed Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) for Student Visa (subclass 500) and course applications.

What documents should I provide for a school application?

– Passport
– Latest Transcript / Report Year 10-12 (for High School)
– Application form – will be provided by us
– English test result
– GS Statement – format will be provided by us

Do I need to provide additional documents for the visa application?

– Yes, you need to provide a bank certificate of balance showing min $29,710 (for 1 year living expenses) + min 1 year tuition fee + $2,000 (airfare ticket).
– If you are being funded by parents, please kindly provide your birth certificate
– If you are being funded by an aunt/uncle, please kindly provide your birth certificate, mom/ dad whoever has a relationship with your aunt/uncle, aunt/uncle’s birth certificate, and sponsorship letter
– You also can provide the assets/properties under your or your parent’s name to strengthen the document (not compulsory)

Is there any time validity for the bank certificate of balance?

Yes, it will be valid for 1 month only, it’s recommended to get the updated one before we lodge the student visa

How long it will take to get CoE?

It depends on the school, but most likely, within 2-3 weeks

Do I need to have insurance?

– Yes, we need to purchase OSHC (Overseas Student Health Cover) to cover all of your study period, and it needs to be paid upfront. No installment for insurance
– You can choose between NIB, Medibank, Allianz, BUPA or AHM

Do I need to provide the documents in English translation?

Yes, all documents that will be submitted need to be provided in English translation. If you can’t do it, we can help to translate it (the fee will be calculated separately)

I don’t know how to write the GS, what should I do?

No need to worry about the GS, you just need to write some of your background on it, so the team can understand the background behind it and will help you to do the GS Statement.

How much is the student visa cost? Can I get a refund if my visa is refused?

As of July 2024, the visa fee is $1,600 + 1.4% cc surcharge = $1,622.4
The visa fee isn’t refundable

Can I get a refund for my school deposit and insurance if my visa get refused?

Yes, you can get a refund for the deposit and insurance. For the school deposit, they will charge a registration fee of around $200-300

How long it will take for the visa to be finalized? Will there by any guarantee that my visa will be granted?

The visa process will depend on immigration, but most likely will take around 3-4 months. However, some cases could take a shorter time period and some cases could take longer time period.

What if my student visa hasn’t been finalized when my course has started?

In this case, we need to defer your study to the next available intake

Do I need to do a medical check-up? When do I need to do that?

Yes, once we lodge the visa, a medical check-up will be required by the immigration. We will send out the HAP ID (for medical check-up purposes) and the link where you can check the associated clinic with Australian immigration. Please book the medical as soon as possible.

What do I need to bring for my medical check-up?

You just need to bring your passport and also the HAP ID

Do I need to ask for the result of my medical check-up and send it to you?

No, the result will be sent out to the immigration directly by the clinic

Can I apply for my student visa in Australia when I am on a tourist visa?

Unfortunately no, you can’t do this anymore as the rules have been changed in this July 2024. So, you need to apply for your student visa offshore.

Can I work on a student visa?

– Yes, you are allowed to work 48 hours fortnightly when holding a student visa.
– You also can work full time during school break.

Can I change my course when the visa has been lodged?

Unfortunately, it’s not recommended, since it will be risky to the visa application, as it will show that you are not a genuine applicant.

Can I change my course after my visa has been granted?

Yes, we can change the course after the visa has been granted, however, it will depend on whether the school, if allows it or not. If we change it within 6 months before the course start date, we will need to ask release letter from the school, stating the reason for the course change, but if we change it after 6 months from the principal course, we just need to withdraw and no release letter will be needed.

If my visa has been granted earlier than the course start date, can I come to Australia earlier?

Yes, you can. If you are planning to come to Australia 2 weeks or more before the insurance start date, we will need to extend the insurance to adjust your arrival date.

What do I need to prepare for immigration when coming to Australia?

You just need to make sure you bring the passport, visa, COE, and OSHC. You can print them out if you want, but not necessarily.
